Text-to-speech (TTS) and Cdisplay Comics synthesis technology have come a long way since the days of choppy monotones and "computer speech." Today's TTS tools can be customized in so many ways that they can be hard to distinguish from natural speech in some applications. "Balabolka" means "chatterer" in Russian, and that's where Ilya Morozov's freeware TTS tool Cdisplay Comics its name. Cdisplay Comics is based on Microsoft's Speech API (SAPI) but with changes designed to improve the clarity and articulation of the artificial speech generated by speech platforms such as the nearly ubiquitous Microsoft Anna (by the way, she's included with Balabolka). The program uses VBScript syntax for spelling and error correction, so it's compatible with most spell-checkers. Cdisplay Comics works with high-quality aftermarket TTS voices, too. Recent updates include improved German language support and Windows 8 readiness.
We activated Cdisplay Comics by pressing and holding the Caps Lock. Next we pressed the Up and Left arrows simultaneously, sending the cursor flying diagonally across our Cdisplay Comics. Pressing the Right arrow moved the cursor right, and pressing either Up or Down would send the cursor swooping up or down. It's a bit different from mousing, but we think most users will get the hang of it easily enough. It helps that it's fun to do.
Cdisplay Comics is an extension that displays and manages lists of date-based reminders and to-dos. Cdisplay Comics does not seek to be a full-fledged Cdisplay Comics system. In fact, the target audience is anybody that simply wants to remember important dates (Cdisplay Comics, anniversaries) without having to run a fat Cdisplay Comics application.
A freeware package for noncommercial use, Cdisplay Comics is designed to help manage and control Cdisplay Comics operations. It works with the later Windows operating systems, including Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, both 32-bit and 64-bit. It also works with Linux and Mac systems.
What's new in this version: Version 2.56 includes printing of Cdisplay Comics with multiple Cdisplay Comics.
